2. Open the Box Carefully

Use scissors or a safety knife without cutting deeply. Cables, tyres or painted parts may be close to the cardboard.

9. Check the Tyre Pressure

Tyres often lose pressure during storage and transport.

The recommended pressure range is printed on the tyre sidewall. The ideal pressure depends on the tyre width, rider weight, road surface and luggage.

Underinflated tyres reduce range and increase puncture risk. Excessive pressure can reduce comfort and grip.

10. Test the Brakes

Test both brake levers before switching on the motor assistance.

Check that:

• Both brakes work properly
• The levers feel firm
• The brake discs are not visibly bent
• Cables or hydraulic hoses are secure
• The wheels stop effectively

New disc brakes may require a short bedding-in period. Do not ride if the brakes feel weak, loose or inconsistent.

11. Inspect the Chain and Gears

Make sure the chain is properly positioned on the chainring and rear cassette.

Lift the rear wheel, rotate the pedals and gently shift through the gears. The chain should move smoothly without falling off or making strong grinding sounds.

The rear derailleur can be damaged during transport. Have it adjusted if it appears bent or does not shift correctly.

12. Charge the Battery

Many electric-bike batteries arrive partially charged.

Use only the original or manufacturer-approved charger. Charge the battery:

• In a dry, ventilated area
• On a stable surface
• Away from direct sunlight and heaters
• Away from water
• At a moderate room temperature

Do not use a charger with damaged cables, loose connectors or unusual smells.

13. Install and Lock the Battery

Check that the battery compartment and electrical contacts are clean.

Insert the battery according to the manufacturer’s instructions. It should fit securely and lock into position. Gently check that it cannot move or fall out.

Never force the battery into place. Incorrect alignment can damage the connectors.

14. Switch On the E-Bike

Turn on the battery and display.

Check that the screen shows:

• Battery level
• Assistance mode
• Speed
• Lights, when connected
• Error codes, if present

Start with the lowest assistance setting. Make sure the motor responds smoothly when you begin pedalling.

Do not change hidden speed settings or remove legal restrictions. In the European Union, standard road-legal e-bikes generally provide pedal assistance up to 25 km/h with a motor rated at a maximum continuous power of 250W.

15. Complete a Short Test Ride

Choose a quiet, flat and traffic-free area.

During the first ride, test:

• Front and rear brakes
• All gears
• Each assistance level
• Steering and stability
• Lights and display
• Unusual sounds or vibrations

Keep the first ride short. Stop immediately if the bike feels unstable, the brakes do not work correctly or the motor produces an error.

After the test ride, check the main bolts, wheel attachments, pedals and handlebars again.
